Kentucky Crash Victim Speaks Out a Year After Deadly Drunk Driving Accident

Car accidents happen every day in the United States, and far too many are caused by drunk drivers. Although the majority of people in the U.S. have either been in a serious car accident or know someone who has been hurt in a crash, understanding the true human cost of collisions is impossible without experiencing it yourself.  One woman, however, is speaking out about the lasting struggles that her family faces years after a devastating car accident took her husband’s life.

When a person dies in a car accident, he or she leaves behind grieving family members who will cope with the loss for the rest of their lives.

can help family members to take legal action in a wrongful death lawsuit so the death does not cause financial problems for families, but no amount of money can ever make up for the harm caused by a fatal car accident. This is especially true when the person who caused the accident was intoxicated at the time, since the dangers of drunk driving are so well known and since drunk driving is illegal in order to prevent crashes from happening.

Families of Accident Victims Cope with Many Struggles

WDRB Louisville, KY interviewed the spouse of a man killed in an accident on Highway 111 in October of 2012. The accident happened when a drunk driver was speeding long the highway and crossed over the center line. The drunk driver not only killed the woman’s husband, but also killed three other people, including two passengers who were in the car with the woman’s deceased husband.

The man who is allegedly responsible for causing the accident is on trial now for four counts of reckless homicide. The prosecutor indicates that the man smelled of alcohol but the biggest contributing cause of the crash is the fact that he was speeding and lost control of the car. He is being held on bond pending the trial and could face years in prison for causing the four deaths.
